Kareen Hague

Ontario Reimagined

July 3-27th
Opening Reception: Saturday July 5th 1-4pm

Artist Bio:

Kareen Hague is an experimental fine artist who works out of her studio in Markham, ON. Kareen captures the essence of realism with an impressionistic touch. She covers her canvas with paper and mediums creating an unexpected textural surface to capture the many layers of colour. Kareen uses both traditional and non-traditional mark making tools to develop the background and layer in the details. Kareen draws inspiration from our lakes, field flowers and the roadside landscapes. Each piece invites the viewer to explore our world through a lens of imagination creating a connection to the beauty that surrounds us.

Artist Statement:

"Ontario Reimagined"

Kareen Hague’s explorations of natural landscapes have shaped her connection to Ontario. She captures the essence of Ontario's beauty — from the serene stillness of our lakes to the wild vibrancy of the fields and flowers. By layering textures and many marks of colour, she seeks to evoke not just the visual aspects of these environments, but the emotional experience of being immersed in them. Water, flowers, and the shifting horizon lines are not depicted literally, but through a lens of imagination. Each piece reflects nature’s harmony, its quiet moments and bursts of life. Kareen’s work invites the viewer to step into these landscapes and encourage, through memory and emotion, a deeper connection to the world around us.
